Tire Safety

Keep your tires properly inflated. Your vehicle's handling depends on tires with the correct air pressure. Proper inflation can also prevent uneven wear, premature replacement, and reduces fuel consumption
Rotate your tires regularly to help extend tire life
Replace tires when they are significantly worn or show signs of damage or irregular wear
If you live in an area with snowy and icy road conditions, consider a set of four winter tires to help maximise traction and help you get the most from options such as ABS and traction control
Consult the tire manufacturer's information booklet, provided with your new vehicle owner packet, for more information about your tires

How to Check Tire Pressure

Look at the vehicle tire label or vehicle compliance label on the driver side door jam for information regarding the correct inflation pressure. Tire inflation pressure can be measured most accurately when the tires are cool – before the first three or four kilometres of driving, or after the vehicle has been parked for an hour or more. Make sure to use a high-quality tire gauge.

General Safety Tips

Always wear your safety belts; they are your first line of defense against injury
Drive defensively. You never know what the other driver might do
Check your tire inflation pressure regularly and keep a watchful eye for evidence of damage or wear
When exiting your vehicle, be certain to set your parking brake
Never remove the radiator cap or attempt any repair work when the engine is hot
Keep loose clothing, jewellery, and long hair away from moving components in the engine compartment
Keep any flame or sparks (including cigarettes) away from the battery and any part of the fuel system
Regularly inspect your headlamps, parking, signal, and brake lights for damage or burned-out bulbs
Inspect windshield wiper blades every six months, or when they seem to be performing poorly. They may need replacement or a simple cleaning with windshield washer fluid or a mild detergent. Don’t use gasoline or other solvents
